Since I’ve been deployed out out here to Afghanistan, I’ve become a bit of a news junkie. I’ve subscribed to newsletters of all sorts from most of the country’s major newspapers, as well as a few others around my home state of MN, and also places where I’ve been stationed. One newsletter that it seems every newspaper website has is a “Breaking News” -letter, and I’ve found it interesting how quickly some things reach my inbox.

S&P Downgrades Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – 8 Aug 2011
They were lowered, along with other lenders backed by the US Government, from AAA ratings to AA+.
