This week, MSNBC & Fox News both blew past the previous record for alerts in a week. CNN matched the old record, and the Denver Post gave back what it took last week, though it maintained its overall lead. Due to its big week, MSNBC also had the largest jump in the overall rankings, moving up three spots. The Boston Globe was another big mover, though on a lower tier. It moved up two spots, and flipped rankings with the other newspaper from Boston. There were no big losers in the overall rankings this week. The San Diego Union Tribune & the Albuquerque Journal both made their initial showings in the rankings. The Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Portland Oregonian both dropped back to zero after a one-week appearance. The London Daily Telegraph also dropped out this week. I've made some changes to the stats that I include after each source. They are now as follows: (Total Alerts This Week/Change in # of Alerts from Previous Week)(Change in Weekly Rank from Previous Week)(Overall Rank/Change to Overall Rank from Previous Week)

Moving on to the Topics…
Due to the credit rating drama, Economy had a busy week this week, setting a new record for alerts along the way & boosting it into the overall topics lead. Alerts from around the World were on the upswing as well, keeping it in a solid second place. Politics dropped off from its busy week last week, once the debt-ceiling issue was settled. I added a "Headline" topic, to be a catch-all for items/alerts that didn't comfortably fit in the other topics. The only topic without any alerts this week was Entertainment. I may just consolidate the Celebrity & Entertainment tags. I'll see what next week looks like. As with the news source stats, I changed these as well, and they are now as follows: (Total Alerts This Week/Change in # of Alerts from Previous Week)(Change in Weekly Rank from Previous Week) (Overall Rank/Change to Overall Rank from Previous Week)
