Unions for Verizon called on 45,000 workers to walk off the job early this morning after negotiators failed to reach an agreement on a new contract by a midnight deadline, marking the first strike at the telecommunications giant in 11 years. (from the Wall Street Journal's alert; just one more reason for me to really dislike this company. I'm glad I jumped to T-Mobile.)
