Derek Jeter's 3000th Hit - 9 July 2011

This was the first time I paid any attention to the specific order that the newsletters arrived.  The occasion in question was Derek Jeter’s 3000th hit (yes, I still despise the Yankees, and Jeter in particular, but I don’t control the news).  Which newspaper’s newsletter (which I’ve subscribed to) was the first to arrive?  The NY Times, should surely have been, right?  One would’ve thought that they’d have the headline ready and waiting, since they’ve been so pathetic over their long, inglorious history as to never have had something like this happen to a player in their uniform.

Alas, the first to appear was the Raleigh News & Observer (I don’t know how quickly after the actual hit, just that it was first to me).
Second, a mere 11 minutes later, was the Denver Post.
Third, a minute even after that, was finally the New York Times.
